Cherry of the Rio Grande is a highly ornamental small tree or shrub that produces dark red to purple, cherry-like fruit with a sweet-tart flavour. The fruit is excellent eaten fresh or used in jams and desserts. It has attractive glossy foliage and white flowers in spring, followed by crops of fruit in early summer. A great choice for small spaces or edible hedges.
