Coffea arabica
The Arabica Coffee Tree, also known as the coffee cherry, is the fruit that contains the coffee beans. These small, round berries start off green and gradually ripen to a deep red or purplish hue when they are ready for harvest. Inside the berry, there are typically two seeds, which are the coffee beans. The flesh surrounding the beans is sweet and juicy, though it’s not commonly consumed. Once harvested, the beans are extracted, processed, and roasted to create the coffee we enjoy. Arabica berries produce a refined flavour, with beans that are smooth and aromatic, known for their mild acidity and complex flavour profile.
